Weird Days

Today could have been horrible, but we really made the most of it.  It started out nice and relaxing, then we headed out to run some errands.  After our second stop, the car wouldn't start.  The heat had already killed our battery.  So there we are, outside in the heat, with a car that won't start.  I could see the boys were ready to complain, but I explained how we knew they were hungry and hot and didn't want to be standing outside.  I explained how Stephen and I felt the exact same way.  I also explained to them that telling us wouldn't make them better and would just add to the stress of the situation.

Stephen set about calling some coworkers to come help.  I headed off down the street to some shops and a Pokestop.  Anything to entertain the kids.  After looking around the blessedly air conditioned shops, I received word from Stephen that someone was able to jump his car and he would head our way.  A battery place was just down the street, so that would be our next stop.

Luckily, it was just the battery that was no good.  And even more luckily, there were a couple of restaurants nearby because it was well after noon and we were hungry.

While getting the battery replaced, we headed to Texas Chicken to eat.  Texas Chicken is better known in the states as Church's Chicken.  Not sure why they chose the name Texas Chicken here.  But it was food and it was good and Stephen bought the boys some ice cream cones for being so good.

We went back to the house so Stephen could sort out a business trip that had just come up.  Then we headed back out to get the last school uniform needs.  All-in-all, it was a good day.  Busy, eventful, and productive.  Honestly hoping for a lazier day tomorrow.

Oh, I got a picture of the sign at the school.  As I mentioned on Facebook, Stephen read it and asked which royals the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall were.  Oh how different we are!
