House Tour

Front door from the inside

I thought it was about time I showed you around our house for the next 3 years.  This is our front door.  It is a beautiful, heavy wood that feels welcoming to me.  The big oddity here is that it is designed to close very slowly.  I mean painfully slowly.  You can try to pull it, but that only does so much good.  Also, the handle on the other side is too close to the other door to be able to grip when you push open.
Kitchen door
This is the kitchen door.  I love it.  We keep doors closed because air conditioning is in each individual room, and it seems pointless to waste air to the stairs.  So yes, the top of the stairs does get warm.

The kitchen is large and spacious.  I may have more counter and cabinet space than I currently know what to do with.  It will be good to have extra storage space there, though.  And there is a storage cabinet off the kitchen.  That is where we will store decorations, luggage, and the like.

Play area underneath the stairs.  There's a lot more in it now.  And it's too messy to take another picture.
The living room is large and well lit.  The back wall is all windows with a door to the back patio.  The stairs come down into the living room.  The area underneath the stairs is open, and this is where the boys will have Legos and a few select other toys.
Guest bedroom with a view of their little balcony.  This is the second largest bedroom.  That is a king size bed, and there is plenty of room to spare.
Kids' bedroom with a view of their wardrobe and bathroom.
Changing area for master bedroom.  The room is still too messy from unpacking to take a good picture.  It is large enough that we wonder what to do with the extra floor space.
There are 4 bedrooms in total.  The master and 2 bedrooms are on the second floor.  The 4th bedroom is on the 3rd floor and could be used as a maid’s quarters.  We are using it as Stephen’s home office and it was the temporary bedroom for the boys.  The 4th floor is where the laundry is, so I climb lots of stairs, especially on laundry days.
Master bathroom\
We have 4.5 baths because almost all bedrooms here have en suite bathrooms.  Occasionally two bedrooms will share a bathroom.  Most do not have bath tubs, but our master does.  They all have bidets, but I have not been brave enough to try one yet.
Boys enjoying a sunset off the eating patio.
View from the front, eating porch.
View from the porch off the 4th bedroom of the mountains.
In addition to the back patio, there is a small porch off the guest bedroom, a larger porch off the 4th bedroom, and a massive porch with cooking area on the 3rd floor.  It seems nice to have lots of outdoor spaces.  It will be nicer once it gets cooler.  I hear that happens sometime in October.

So there you have it, our home.  Our furniture is here, so it already feels more like home.  I’m looking forward to finishing all the details of hanging things up, finding spots for the last few items, etc.  This part seems to take the longest.
